Want to make your t-shirt unique? Is your jumper boring? Is your hoodie too generic? Come and learn how a little hand embroidery can make you love your clothes again. Mary will teach you some basic stitches and how to successfully add them to your clothes. Bring along a garment you want to embellish and some ideas as to what you want to do with it (you will be provided with the equipment required for the embellishment).

About the tutor – Mary Broddle
Mary is passionate about sharing her embroidery skills and its benefits with as many people as possible. Inspired by traditional Japanese and Indian techniques, Mary’s Mindful Stitching concept is about the process of hand embroidery rather than an overall design. Letting your needle and thread move through the fabric without overthinking its path has a calming effect that is a form of mindfulness, aiding relaxation and reducing stress. Mary will talk to you about her research into how embroidery can help your physical, mental and emotional wellbeing, as well as some history of its use as a therapy.
