In addition to the Sunday classes we are offering individual Saturday sessions 
This class is suitable for all embroidery machine owners; it is advised that you attend your owner’s course prior to starting this class. 

Embroidered Quilt
This is an ongoing monthly class on Sundays with additional Saturday dates 
This class is for embroidery machine owners who would like to expand their skills. 
Learn lots of techniques relating to machine embroidery and quilting that you can incorporate into any sewing project! Learn how to prepare and cut your fabrics for machine embroidery, learn hooping techniques, embroidery design, stitching tips and helpful hints in stitching decorative stitches. Various designs to choose from or you can also attend this class if you have another quilt in mind but need some guidance along the way!

Tutor - Liz Hanbury 
Liz started out as a Customer! Now, nineteen years on, she is a valuable part of the Coles Sewing Centre teaching team. She generously shares her wide knowledge, encouraging everyone to enjoy their sewing and creativity to the limits.  

Blanket Stitch Babies
This cute little children’s quilt looks hand stitch but has actually been created on an embroidery machine. The blocks include stippling and beautiful borders and you can choose how big or small to make it!   This project is a great way to get to grips with your embroidery machine! 
Please note you will need at least 3 sessions to complete this quilt!

Requirements for Blanket Stitch Babies: 
1mt x 150cm wide White/Cream cotton fabric for embroidered blocks
1.25mt Cotton fabric for Backing
25cm fabric for binding. (You could use the edge of the backing fabric if you wish)

10 x long quarters (25cm across the width of the fabric) 
Printed and or plain cottons for the appliqué designs and the Log Cabin blocks. 
You could use up scraps for the Appliqués if you prefer

1 pack Polymesh Stabiliser
1 pack of Over the Back Stabiliser if you don’t like the raw edge appliqué finish - optional
1 metre of Vilene 295 High Loft Wadding

An assortment of machine embroidery threads – 40wt to compliment your fabrics
Pre wound bobbins or bobbins wound with bobbinfil
Machine Embroidery Needle size 75 or 80 Topstitch Needle
200 x 200 Quilters hoop or 260 x 200 hoop
Applique scissors
Rotary cutter and ruler

Basic sewing kit to include pins, fabric marker, scissors etc

Course Requirements:
You will be provided with a Husqvarna Viking sewing machine to use during the class.
Please note we cannot guarantee specific models.

75 Machine Embroidery Needles
Pre-wound bobbin
USB Stick
Rotary cutter
Quilting ruler
Cutting mat
505 spray
There are a limited amount of mats to use in the classroom, bringing your own will save you waiting. 
Please be aware there may be more supplies required as your quilt progresses
